DISEASES Cattle: Babesia bigemia (redwater fever),

MATING HABIT A toxic protein has been identified in eggs
FEEDING HABIT Cause irritation and loss of condition

  infestation can lead to death
  Bites to humans can result
  in severe inflammation
HOSTS Domestic animals: cattle, sheep, goats,
  horses, rarely humans
  Wild animals: antelopes
  Immatures are found on dewlap,
  neck and external ear
  Adults attach to flank and underside
DISEASES Cattle: Babesia bovis, B. bigemia (redwater fever),
Anaplasma marginale (gall fever), Borrelia theileri,
  Pseudomonas aeruginosa,
  Pigs: Babesia trautmannii.
  Records of Rickettsia conorii (Boutonneuse fever)
  infections and Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic
